Foamed cement are coarse dispersions of a base cement slurry, a gas (usually nitrogen), a foaming surfactant, and other materials to provide foam stability.

- The base cement slurry is usually a conventional 15–16 lbm/gal system.
- The density of nitrogen is, for all practical purposes, 0 lbm/gal.
